Women's Self Defence - Hair Grabbed

Hair grabbed

The fifth most common way for a male to attack a female is for her hair to be grabbed by the attacker's left hand. We will consider three separate situations in the following order: hair grabbed close to the scalp from the front (as shown in photo); hair grabbed close to the scalp from the rear; and long hair grabbed.

Sharply raise your left hand directly underneath the attacker's grip and though it. Rotate the arm as you raise it. This will break the attacker's grip. The right hand rises simultaneously in anticipation.
Slap hard with the right hand.
Attacker grabs the hair from behind. Immediately place your hands on his and press down to keep his hand close to your head.
Rotate; here the rotation is clockwise, but it does not matter which way you rotate. Keep your back straight and feel the tension in the attacker's arm. Push forward and up in the direction that makes the tension in the arm greatest. The tension is experienced by the attacker as great pain. He will go up on his toes to escape the pain.
Now that he is unbalanced, pull him down with one hand as the other prepares to slap the back of his head.
Zoltan is shown here after a quick make-over and a wig fitting. When long hair is grabbed the previous techniques won't work. You do have two free hands and so can hit, poke and pinch at whatever is available; and kick and knee likewise. But remember you may be pulled right off balance and it may be difficult to hit your favourite targets. There will be one point of stability in the chaos though; the attacker's grabbing hand and arm. You will always be able to reach this. With your right hand you apply a thumb compression, as shown close up in the next picture; with the left hand apply a cow bite pinch to the triceps.
To apply the thumb compression, press with your right thumb through the tip of their thumb at a 45 degree angle upwards. Apply reactionary pressure with your fingers. Small amounts of force will cause enormous pain. Remember whenever you can reach the attacker's thumb (or other fingers) in many situations you can apply this technique. Slap as soon as you have a release.
