Sussex University Karate Jutsu Club - Kihon Kata Sequence 10

Kihon Kata

Sequence 10:
oi tsuki, 270 degree turn
gedan barai
oi tsuki

Tori attacks with a right swing.
This is blocked with uke's left reaction hand.
Uke's right hand punches (as in the kata) or strikes with the edge of the palm (as in the photo) to tori's left shoulder.
This prevents tori from applying any type of attack with his left hand, thus keeping uke momentarily safe even though he has not blindsided tori.

Uke's hands grab tori where they land.
Uke spins through 270 degrees, knocking his hips and right leg into tori.
At the same time, uke pulls round, applying tai otoshi, (body drop throw).
Tori is pulled round by uke's left gedan barai.
Uke drops his body weight into a punch to any exposed vital area.
