Kihon Kata Sequence 11

Kihon Kata

Sequence 11:
oi tsuki, 180 degree turn
gedan barai
oi tsuki

Tori throws a left swing at ukes head.
Uke's right hand reaches behind tori's head, simultaneously deflecting the punch and grabbing tori's right ear, or the hair just above the ear, or right sternocleidomastoid muscle.
This move can be performed effectively so long as tori applies his punch with commitment.

Continuing with the momentum of the swing, uke swings round degrees, pulling tori around with him.
Here the sternocleidomastiod muscle has been grabbed.
For the other target areas, the swing can be downwards (as in the kata, and as in sequence four above); for the sternocleidomastiod muscle, the swing must remain high to keep tori in pain.
Uke continues the swing through180 degrees, pulling tori all the way round.
As tori is exposed, uke pushes his weight forward with oi tsuki to head/neck/kidneys/spine, etc.
