We dive, and teach diving! We are a BSAC club, and train members to all grades from complete beginners to Advanced Diver level. Training starts at the beginning of the academic year in October, with pool sessions and lectures. We supply all of the expensive equipment - to start you just need a mask, snorkel and some fins!
We meet every Thursday during term-time on the University of Sussex campus at Falmer. Meetings start at 6:30pm in Arts D640 - feel free to pop along!
After basic training is complete we continue with training trips to inland diving sites around the UK, such as Stoney Cove and Horsea Island. In Marc
h/April, the diving season gets into full swing and continues right through to October. We dive locally from our two boats, Paradox and Splod, at weekends and during some evenings. We also run trips around the UK (Weymouth, Land's End, Devon, Scotland) and abroad.
The club is run by a committee of members, each having a specific responsibility for the club, with some positions reserved for students and others for more qualified members. The committee is chosen annually by the club's membership at the Annual General Meeting.
One of the key objectives of the club is to get everybody involved with the running of the club - so don't be surprised if you're asked to lend a hand!
As well as extensive diving activities, the club has a great social events calendar, with regular parties, clubbing and the inevitable drinking sessions.
